Appalachian Mountains Tennessee - Transportation

This stretch of the Appalachian Mountains runs from the Virginia state line in upper east Tennessee to the Great Smoky Mountains and extends to the North Carolina border.

Access to the Appalachian Mountains is easy when flying into either the McGhee Tyson Airport located just south of Knoxville to the west or to the Tri-Cities Regional Airport located in Blountville to the north. Both airports provide non-stop and connecting flights from several regional airlines such as Delta Connection, Northwest Airlink, and US Airways Express to several major cities.
