The 650-mile river has an eastern and a western section in Tennessee but also flows in Alabama, Mississippi and Kentucky. The western portion of the Tennessee River is approximately 70 miles west of Nashville along I-40. The eastern portion of the Tennessee River flows into both Knoxville and Chattanooga running parallel to I-75.
