Jonesboro Population: 55,515
  Jonesboro serves as a cultural, agricultural and medical center for northeast Arkansas and the Missouri “boot heel.” The city, population 55,000, sits above the Mississippi River delta on the hilly geological formation known as Crowley’s Ridge. It is the largest city on Crowley’s Ridge Parkway, a 200-mile national scenic byway. Jonesboro is surrounded by cropland—cotton to the east and rice to the southwest.
     
Pine Bluff Population: 55,085
  Pine Bluff is an Arkansas River port city of 57,000 in the south central area of the state. The city is surrounded by timberland to the west and agricultural delta to the east. It is a major agricultural and industrial trade center and home to University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff. A mild climate allows for fishing and other outdoor activities year round. Excellent bass fishing is available on the Arkansas River and Lake Langhofer. Pine Bluff Regional Park provides access to these fishing spots as well as RV hookups and golf.
