Riverside Nashville might have a reputation for country tunes but this "Athens of the South" is also home to good galleries, museums and historic mansions.
Lee and Gordon’s Mills is one of the oldest grist mills in the state of Georgia located approx 1 miles from the Chickamauga Chattanooga National Military Park in the historic town of Chickamauga. The property has been placed on the National Register of Historical Places. It was used by both the Union and Confederate Armies as a place to cross the Chickamauga River during the great Battle of Chickamauga. The Mill is now open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm.
It now also hosts the Veterans of All Wars Museum, which contains information, artifacts and articles from all wars. It is open Tuesday - Friday 10:00 am until 4:00 pm, Saturdays 10:00 am until 3:00 pm and Sundays 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Admission is free to both but donations are encouraged.
The two banquet rooms on the property are also available for events. Wedding and group packages are available.
