Description

The City of Ringgold, named after Major Samuel Ringgold who died fighting for his country in the Mexican War, is a town rich in history. Ringgold boasts an antebellum depot built in 1849, site of major fighting during the Civil War.

Area attractions, events and points of interest include the Ringgold Depot, the Wedding Chapel, New York Civil War Monument, Lake Winnie Amusement Park, Down-home Christmas, and 1890's Days Jamboree.

Just a short drive away is Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park and Visitor Center, Old Stone Church, and the General Monument commemorating the capture of the famed General during the Civil War’s Great Locomotive Chase.
