Laced by rivers, edged by lakes and framed by the Great Smoky Mountains, Knoxville is part urban hub complete with cultural attractions and part portal for adventure on nearby peaks.
Rough Creek trail connects the Big Frog trail, Licklog trail, and the East Fork Ridge trail. This trail is entirely in the Big Frog Wilderness. Groups in this area are restricted to a maximum of 12 people.
Steepness: Much of the grail has grades of 20% or steeper. Length: Trails are usually more than 8 miles, but short, steep trails may be included. Surface: Trail is most likely rocky, with uneven footing. May include many stream crossings.

Several dispersed camping sites are available along the trail, which crosses the east and west forks of Rough Creek. Please observe wilderness rules when visiting this area.
Trail Information: Trail #70. From the Big Frog trail, hike 1.1 miles to the Rough Creek Trail.
Site Amenities: Parking at the Big Frog Trailhead is limited to five vehicles. A bulletin board provides trail information.
Safety: Consider wearing hunter orange during hunting season.
Requirements: No motor or mechanical devices in wilderness. Hiking only.
