Tucked into the northwestern corner of Tennessee not far from the Kentucky border, Union City is a historic railroad town and county seat of Obion County. The tiny town is an interesting stop on the way to nearby Reelfoot Lake and the Mississippi River.
Changing displays of local history are on exhibit at the Obion County Museum which features a one-room schoolhouse. Gun aficionados will enjoy a visit to Dixie Gun Works where more than 10,000 item are for sale including guns, knives, armor and camping supplies. Antique firearms are also for sale and visitors can view displays of military medals and swords. Old Car Museum, part of the same complex, features more than 30 antique cars, an 1850 log cabin gun shop, high wheeler bicycles and more (open six days a week).
Home-style fare is abundant at Union City restaurants. From the Catfish Galley's seafood to fried pies at Flippens Hillbilly Barn outside of town, visitors won't starve.
Union City is located in northwestern Tennessee, about 150 miles northeast of Memphis.
